2) Answer the following questions in full sentences.

a)  List some of the types of data that may be held on Intranets.

Some types of data are organisational policies, forms and applications, literature, manuals, contact numbers and databases.

b) What are the advantages of intranets?

The advantages of Intranets are saving in operating costs and paperwork, better communication and community building between those that are part of the system.

c) Explain two different ways in which intranets may be set up.

The Intranet can be set up on a LAN and have no outsied access. While another way it can be set up is on the Internet, but use password access to restrict the site to authorised users.

d) Explain the importance of Internet protocols.

Protocols are rules that determine how data is handled over the Internet. If protocols did not exist (these rules) the data handlings would have no standards and would vary from system to system. The development of the Internet, communications between other machines, the only system accessible to the world rely on the development of these protocols or standard rules.
